History of Tokyo
The capital of the southwestern part of the Kanto region. It is a part of both Musashi and Izu. In the first year of the Meiji era (1868), Edo prefecture was renamed Tokyo prefecture, and the counties of Ebara, Toshima, Tama, Adachi, and Katsushika were merged by the abolition of the feudal clan in the same year. In the same year, Izu Nanashima was transferred from Shizuoka Prefecture, and in the same three years, the Ogasawara Islands were transferred from the Ministry of Interior. Furthermore, in the same year, Tama Sangun was incorporated from Kanagawa Prefecture and became the current area. In 1943, Tokyo was established by merging with the city of Tokyo.
