This star-shaped design is inspired by Christmas Eve.
It features the phrase “Merry Christmas” typographically arranged into a star shape, translated into English, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Dutch, Norwegian, and Portuguese.
Additionally, only the English version includes “Happy Holidays.”
Each design incorporates a ribbon shaped like a pentagon.
This ribbon may appear to the viewer as a star shining in the night sky or as a snowflake falling from the heavens. Two or more of these are included in each design, evoking a December night.
Of course, I’ll explain the Japanese as well.
This is the katakana spelling. It’s the standard Japanese representation of “Merry Christmas.” In Japan, “Merry Christmas” is typically written in katakana as a phonetic transcription.
Since the creator is Japanese, I’ll explain a detail only Japanese people might notice: there are actually two possible readings. It’s the top row of letters, though few Japanese people might notice it. It’s designed so it could be read as either “メリー” or “メリィー”.
To give this work a sense of dynamism, each star shape is tilted 10 degrees. When using individual works, please use a -10 degree tilt.
