A tourist hot spring city in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, located near the center of the Izu Peninsula and facing Sagami Bay.

Citrus cultivation is central. Orchards occupy about 50% of all farmland. Some are tourist citrus-picking gardens. Sightseeing
It is a scenic location overlooking the Amagi Mountains to the west and Sagami Bay to the east, with most of the area designated as part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. There are many famous places and historic sites, centered around Ito Hot Springs, which has about 800 hot spring sources.
