Austria is located almost at the center of the European continent and is a landlocked country surrounded by eight nations: Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, and Italy. Alpine skiing is popular, with numerous ski resorts. Kitzbühel, a mecca for skiing, features the Hahnenkamm mountain, home to a downhill course used for the Ski World Cup.
