Description for Israel
The Republic of Israel, located in Palestine in Southwest Asia. It is the only country on Earth where Jews form the majority. Situated on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea, it borders Lebanon to the north, Syria to the northeast, Jordan to the east, the West Bank region of the State of Palestine to the east, the Gaza Strip region of the State of Palestine to the west, and Egypt to the southwest.
It is an island-like Jewish state surrounded by Arab and Islamic cultures. Jerusalem holds holy sites for three religions: the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (Christianity), the Western Wall (Judaism), and the Dome of the Rock (Islam).
Conflict over the Palestinian issue persists to this day.
Even for tourism, it appears to be a country with very strict entry and exit procedures. Armed police officers patrol the streets, clearly indicating the state’s strong focus on maintaining public order. For travelers, the impression is not one of poor public safety.
