When Toyotomi Hideyoshi was calling himself “Kinoshita Tokichiro,” he used “Sagittaria trifolia(Omodaka) family crests” until he was given the 5-3 paulownia crests by Nobunaga Oda.
note. Omogata is one of the 10 major family crests widely used in Japan. Sagittaria trifolia is a type of aquatic plant whose leaves resemble arrowheads. It is an auspicious plant as a “winning rush” because it is associated with the appearance of an arrow sticking.
