A country consisting of Cuba, the largest island in the West Indies, and about 1,500 coral reef islands around it. The island of Cuba consists of an elongated, mostly flat and undulating hilly area in the east and west, with the highest peak of Mount Turquino (2005 m) in the Sierra Maestra Mountains at the southeastern end. The climate is subtropical due to the influence of the monsoon.
