Description for Dodgeball as ball games
A kind of ball game. Two teams of the same number of players are divided into courts (square or circular) with a line drawn in the middle and enter each other and hit each other with balls (about 20 to 30 cm in diameter).
If a player is hit by a ball or fails to catch a ball and the ball is dropped (out), the player goes out of the opponent’s court and continues the game. Dodge means to avoid by dodging the body, but the origin is unknown.
Although it is presumed that it came to Japan from Europe and the United States in the Meiji era, it is a sport that is hardly known in the English-speaking world today. It was introduced into school education early on and is widely used in Japanese elementary schools.
