Description for Ninjutsu

A martial art that employs special techniques to disrupt, deceive, or attack opponents. The techniques used by ninjas. Special martial arts used by ninjas tasked with espionage, intrigue, rear disruption, and assassination to achieve their objectives.

It is said that there were various schools (something-ryu) of ninjutsu.

They use various tools to perform actions that seem impossible by common sense, or utilize disguises, invisibility, and trickery to exploit people’s vulnerabilities and disappear. To master these techniques, they undergo special training similar to religious practices, but the foundation lies in “emptying oneself.” The use of hand seals and incantations suggests a deep connection to esoteric Buddhism, Shugendo, and Yamabushi traditions. Notable ninja organizations include the Iga-ryu and Koga-ryu schools. Other well-known schools include the Takeda-ryu, Togakushi-ryu, Kishu-ryu, and Kusunoki-ryu. The terms used to refer to ninja also vary by school, including “shinobi,” “kancho,” “rappa,” “onmitsu,” “suppa,” and “kamari.”
